Black Friday panic. 17:21 - Nov 21 with 2122 viewsfelixstowe_jack

Looks like the retailers are trying in induce a panic to boost sales in the run up to Black Friday.
Hinting at possible shortages due to global supply chain problems.

Following previous self induced shortage, loo rolls and petrol, will the public be gullible enough to rush to buy Black Friday " bargins ". Or will the public realise it is just a con to get them to buy overpriced goods which are often cheaper before and after Black Friday week.

I never buy anything in these pre Christmas "black" sales. They are often a con with prices being higher than normal.

Christmas is sorted, all the presents are safely stored ready, we have nothing left to get besides some Christmas food and we've already got what we can foodwise too.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Indeed.
You’ve got to be careful in any “Sale” regardless of when it takes place. Companies often use a “sale” to offload old stock, discontinued models and they have been known to inflate the price before hand to make the deal look more attractive. Somethings like kitchens can actually be more expensive in a sale. It’s only a bargain if you really want/need the item and are paying over the odds. If your in no rush to buy, monitor the prices over a period of time.

I am after an air fryer. I know the one I want and it’s price hadn’t budged in 2 months, I’m in no rush to buy so am going to sit tight and wait.

Why is it called Black Friday, genuine question.

I think it used to be because shops were often in the red, then sale time got them into the black. I think.

Not a clue mate, although Builthy's explanation seems quite plausible.

Well they've managed to con millions into believing there is a deadly virus doing the rounds and the only way forward is to take a poison shot.

I doubt they'll have too much trouble getting the shelves emptied by the gullible

Our meat is in the freezer, there's only 3 of us so a small ready done joint. We'll get fresh veg (hopefully) a couple of days before but frozen will do if needs be. We don't need toys, we don't have Turkey (always Chicken, Turkey is dry) and we've used the same pre lit tree for years. We'll decorate the tree as a family but we don't put up other decs usually.

We are pretty much ready right now so the answer, if anyone is worried about shortages, is maybe to be prepared.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

1.5L bottles of Southern Comfort on Amazon for £26 is pretty decent.

There are good deals out there if you want to put the work in, but you'll find most stuff has been on sale at the same price at other times of the year.

Another marketing ploy to get people into a frenzy t spend more than they need.

Ultimately these deals that are going for black friday will be readily on offer through out the year, its just this time of year people will be spending easily than the other times of the year.

If you are buying something you need or a present for a friend or loved one then it's nice to have a bit of deal on what it was priced as a few days/weeks ago.
