Gannon: Swansea Are Perfect Role Models Friday, 26th Feb 2010 17:08 Swansea City are perfect role models believes Posh boss Jim Gannon. Making their mark in the second season in the Championship, Swansea have proved beyond all doubt that making a realistic bid to securing the premiership dream need not break the bank. Managerial turmoil last summer was evident at the club, whilst nearly going out of the league entirely in 2003 only strengthened the resolve not to make the same mistakes twice. It is sequence of events that has not been lost on Gannon, he said,” What Swansea have done in recent seasons is very impressive. I can remember them almost falling out of the Football League not so long ago, but now they play great football, on a great surface in a great stadium.” Many a football manager has come away after playing Swansea, praising the club not only for its fiscal prudence but matched by footballing excellence. Honing in on the qualities of the Swans squad, the former Stockport manager has highlighted the importance of the possession game and passing ability of his opponents tomorrow, as key attributes that he make his players all to aware of, he adds, "He's (Sousa) not just kept things going, he's improved on what Swansea had before. His team love to pass the ball and keep possession, which is so important.” Gannon will also face his former charge, Swansea defender Ashley Williams tomorrow and after close losses to Middlesbrough and arch rivals Cardiff City, the 41 year old Londoner has the belief that his side can come away from the Liberty Stadium with all three points as he revealed, “We were in the game at Cardiff and looking like scoring until we conceded a soft free-kick and a soft second goal from the free-kick. At Middlesbrough we were the better side in the second-half so we have the belief that we can succeed tomorrow.” However with the Swans making a fortress out of the Liberty Stadium, Gannon's assessment of the game tomorrow may be wide of the target.
