Will it be Parky in the summer for Leeds?
Will it be Parky in the summer for Leeds?

Leeds could turn to neighbouring Bradford City as the search for Neil Warnock's replacement with speculation growing that Phil Parkinson is the man for the job.

Barring a miracle Neil Warnock will leave Leeds in the summer and we will be after our fourth boss in five years.

One online bookmaker is already offering odds on who will be next in the hot-seat and an outsider creeping up on the rails is Phil Parkinson. Parkinson took neighbouring Bradford City to the League Cup final at the weekend but despite the result against Swansea, he claimed the scalps of Aston Villa and Arsenal along the way in one of the stories of the season.

Despite being just 45, Bradford are Parkinson's fourth club as a manager. He started at Colchester, leading them out of League One however spells at Hull City and Charlton were hardly memorable for Parkinson, who spent most of his playing career at Reading.

Bradford currently sit in 11th in League Two, eight points off the play-offs but they do have two games in hand.

Although Salem Patel has talked of Leeds next appointment being a "young manager" and at 45 Parkinson would fit the bill, I'm not sure he is the answer. Granted, City's cup run was marvellous and all that but having bombed at Hull and Charlton could he handle the pressure and expectation at Leeds?

My own choice Nigel Adkins remains favourite at 6/4. Adkin's is apparently on gardening leave following his sacking from Southampton and will not be free to start work again until he negotiates his severence from St Mary's. The YEP reckon he has been "sounded out" about working at Leeds and has responded positively to the speculation, however like the rest of us he does have concerns over the likely playing staff budget.

Inbetween Adkin's and Parkinson is Paolo Di Canio at 4-1 which I think would be an unmitigated disaster for the club given his questionable temperament.
