Will next Pompey game by a Jekyll display or have they something to Hyde?

The bigger picture is the one Paul Cook is looking at after the disappointing defeat at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

It was another poor display on the road from the Blues - in stark contrast to the winning form they have been showing at home.

And Cook feels it is important to remember the way the home results have been going as fans reflect on the awayday struggles.

He told The News: ‘We’ve won five of our last seven games and we’re fourth in the table. We’ll take that.

'We are Jekyll & Hyde. Away from home we don’t look like a side who’ll challenge for promotion. At home we look a side who’ll win the league.’

Cook said the Blackpool performance showed the team as a whole was sometimes below par - and that meant fans should not single out individual players for criticism.

He added: 'The good thing for the likes of Kyle Bennett and Michael Smith and others is people shouldn’t single players out. We have the Blackpool performance in us as a club so let’s not single others out, let’s look to be better.

‘It is not down to single people, it is down to us as a group and we should all take the criticism.’

Doncaster provide the next test of Pompey's home capabilities on Saturday, and will arrive on the south coast with a record identical to Pompey's.

Their number of wins, draws and defeats is the same as that of the Blues and even goal difference is the same - but Rovers have scored and conceded three more.
