Leeds wage war on "age cheats" Monday, 29th Sep 2008 19:54 Leeds have launched a sting operation on fans who flaunt the concession rules. Leeds staged an operation on Saturday to root out the ticket-cheats. The official Leeds website claim that eight fans were ejected during the 1-0 win over Hereford, all adults using tickets bought at concessionary prices for children or senior citizens. The club also claim that had to apologise to a 6' 4" 15-year-old (apologise, we should be giving him trials!) and a "youthful" looking 70-year-old! Although our tickets are amongst the dearest in the football league, I have little sympathy for those who try and sneak in this way. In the past, when say a mate has not taken his kid along to the match, I have always gone to the ticket office and paid for an upgrade - honestly! I remember taking two of my own sons, then aged 7 and 5 to our 0-0 draw with Plymouth in April 2006 and remember how strict the stewards were in sending my lads through a different turnstiles in the south stand - the kids were a bit upset about it. However, I suppose for the good of the club they have to have crack-downs on this sort of thing because it is not just ladies who lie about their age!
