I deliberately went to the trouble of reading Joey Barton's autobiography the other week to try and find out more about him. It's heavy reading at times and to be fair he goes into more or less every scrape that he's ever been in in great detail. In essence though he keeps repeating how his behaviour is a result of being conditioned for 16 years in an anti-social housing estate in Huyton where a drug culture is prevalent and where violence is the default position and after a while I found it repetitious. What it seemed to boil down to was that Joey is confrontational if he doesn't feel something to be right or if something doesn't particularly suit him. He doesn't do diplomacy or compromise.

OK, so he grew up on a rough estate, violence and drugs blah blah blah. Heard it all before from every hard done by headcase "from the streets". So that explains his hardman footballing mentality. But his betting ban??????
