I'd argue that a big part of us being in the financial situation we found ourselves in was, in part at least, down to us not making money from easy wins, where we can.

I think as a fan base, we've become used to everything being cheaper than other clubs which is great on one hand but when we need to make money as a football club, new ideas and existing ideas used by other clubs need to be explored and the idea of admin costs is one.

I saw recently that Oldham are charging £10 for their fans forum, everything we do like that is free like fans forums and End of Season Awards Nights etc. If charging more for season tickets and charging nominal fees for things we usually get for free makes us more financially stable then I'm all for it.

Do you reckon we could go a day without childish digs and arguments?

It really is becoming a little bit pathetic, I've already deleted a thread that shouldn't have had to be deleted because the original subject matter was perfectly valid and worthwhile but ruined by arguments.

Can we just grow up a little?

We were heavily linked with him before his move to Grimsby. We were also heavily linked with Callum Cooke who has just been released by Hartlepool.

Prediction League 2023/24
at 12:14 29 Apr 2024

A big congratulations to SPR for winning this seasons prediction league. They ended up clear by 8 points.

The prize was a match-worn Matty Lund shirt but, given that SPR is actually a Carlisle supporter, they've kindly donated the prize back so that it can go into the BOGS to either raise funds for the club or for Joe Thompson's treatment if possible so I'm going to get in touch with the BOGS team regarding this but it's a great gesture from our winner.

I can't agree with that when we have the likes of Max Taylor on our books.

Wouldn't be that gutted to see any out of contract player go to be honest but also mindful that it will be a big recruitment job again so I'd offer deals to the likes of Jimmy Keohane (versatility and experience), Ian Henderson (Sentimental reasons and the fact he still has the ability to change games in brief spells), Tyrese Sinclair (has the ability to create something out of nothing despite being frustrating), Devante Rodney (Will score goals at this level if he can stay fit) and Gordon (doubt he's on a big wage and been plenty solid enough)

Ebanks-Landell, John, Taylor, B Kelly, Clayton and Afuye can all go for me.

A1 - Nope
A2 - I do actually quite like this - my pick from group A
A3 - It's not too bad, I do like the white part on the sleeves
A4 - Awful

B1 - Nope! Enough to give me a migraine
B2 - YES x INFINITY - Black and blue stripes don't need to be vertical! Would need white shorts I think but this is my absolute favourite
B3 - Not for me, looks like the shirts been run over by dirty tyres
B4 - Not against the idea of hoops at all but would have had another one round the top section

C1 - Yes! I do like this a lot, again, it's different to what we've had previously which is good!
C2 - Nah
C3 - Too much like a St George's cross for my leftist eyes - Awful
C4 - Nah, nothing to it

D1 - Not for me, looks like a barcode or a fine tooth comb!
D2 - YES!! Now we're talking, glorious looking kit, the white stripes (not the band) make it look class - My second favourite of the lot
D3 - Nah, not really, bit weird
D4 - "Hiya, Errea are on the phone and want their kit back"

I think there's some good choices there, and a real opportunity for something different while keeping the fundamentals right.

Good that fans get so many different options too.

Awful for Gateshead, full deserving of their place in the playoffs and they're the best team I've seen all season.

I also think it would be wrong for another team to take their place, Aldershot haven't done enough to qualify for the playoffs so don't deserve to be in there because of someone else's unfair misfortune. Just like if a team in the relegation zone went bust, you wouldn't then level it out by relegating the next worse team because they've done enough over 46 games to stay up.

The whole thing is a circus.

English football has had a ridiculous week or so with this injustice and the decision regarding FA Cup Replays.

I agree with a lot of that.

I do think this league has been a lot worse than I imagined it would be and because of that, my pre-season hopes and expectations have changed. Before a ball was kicked, I presume, myself, and the majority, would have taken a mid-table finish but having seen this league over the course of the season and seen us throw away points left, right and centre, it now feels like a missed opportunity and I think we should have been finishing in and around the playoff places when you look at our squad.

Dorking are relegated, were pretty much relegated on Thursday night and despite their injury problems, the fact they'd played just two days before, not won in 8 or 9 games and ourselves who had pretty much a full squad to choose from, two days more rest than Dorking, and despite us having a much better squad, we've still managed to throw points away at home to one of the worst sides in the league.

We've thrown points away against Oxford City who were pretty much down and out from February, Dorking Wanderers who are down, Ebbsfleet who are 20th did the double over us, Kidderminster who are down, Boreham Wood who are 21st, Woking in 19th, Wealdstone, Dagenham etc etc etc. I know Oldham were expected to go up but we've taken one point from them and barely laid a glove on them last week. They've not won in 9 games!

The recruitment has been decent in very trying circumstances and it's clear the dressing room is a much better environment than last season but we've under-achieved this season and I'd go as far as to say that we've been worse when we've had more options. That's down to the manager not knowing how to get the best from his squad. It's different when you're left with no choice but we've done better with our backs to the wall.

I'd also say, that you can point to off-field issues, players not getting paid one month and all that, but we've been as bad or worse than we have all season since the news of the Ogden Family investing.

Do I like Jim? Yes, he's won me over with words many times, he's been a shining light in terms of his personality and his character in what have been horrendous times for us supporters.

Do I think he'll recruit well in the summer - Probably, he's done quite well with little or no budget this season.

Do I think he'll succeed in getting us back into the football league? - Unfortunately, no I don't.
