When I was early teens, sitting outside in the nice weather preparing for my exams I decided to go inside and get a drink. **crash!!** A lump of window shelf masonry had fallen onto the table where I was sitting and came from quite a few floors up so could have easily killed me. Thing is, at that age you don’t have the same sense of mortality so I just shrugged it off. Had it been now I’d probably be in therapy!! I guess having my two kids are my real life changing moments. It really does change everything. I have had people at work say they’re thinking of having kids but it won’t change them, they’ll still go down the pub, to restaurants etc and I just smile to myself knowing that ain’t gonna happen and I just say “if you still want to do all that, don’t have kids because you just won’t be able to!” |

Totally understand the whole speculation aspect but does every single lower level arrival and departure have to be ‘announced’? Modern times I guess. |

I must say that when I’ve ridden my motorbike in France or Germany the vehicle drivers are a lot more aware and courteous. You get used to this after a week then when disembarking at Dover and riding up the A20 it’s less than 10 minutes before a car driver (English plates usually) has tried to caress me into the verge. There are a million reasons why vehicle drivers in the UK are often not good which is another reason why it’s so important to look out for yourself (sorry to keep banging that drum!) |

How many of these youth signings the club keeps introducing on its website will then have the template leaving announcement in a few years? Just seems overkill to me. What next…..”we’re pleased to announce the signing of Mabel, our new tea lady”. |

Maybe my situation is different as I commute by motorbike rather than car but a part of the problem with public transport is that it’s overcrowded, expensive, unreliable etc. I worked out that over the course of a year, taking into account fuel, tax, insurance, maintenance/servicing etc, each return journey to work by motorbike is £5. By train & tube, each return journey is £15. That’s a big difference over the course of the year. |

Sadly the use of “a few giving everyone a bad name” does not apply to cyclists. Sorry. It really is a case of the majority are bad. Someone mentioned above about an extra light for cyclists at traffic lights…ive seen them already (chiswick, camden) where a green light in the shape of a bicycle lights up first about 5-10 seconds before the main traffic lights go green. Seems ok most of the time but you do get vehicles going first as they just subliminally see a green light. |

Ive been intrigued by a Hellfire or the Toyota Alphard. Petrol consumption isn’t a major problem as i tend to only do about 2-3k miles a year as its mainly used at the weekend to do the shopping, kids taxi etc. i may do a long journey a couple of times a year. Does being an import load extra price onto the insurance and are parts easily-ish available? |

IIRC the rules/law is basically the bigger and more dangerous the vehicle you drive, the more you have to look out for everyone below you in the pecking order of vulnerability. Whilst this makes sense, what it has done (and what i was alluding to earlier about survival instinct) is make people at the bottom of that chain totally oblivious to their role of responsibility i.e. they think they have none and behave how they please because it’s other people’s responsibility to look out for them. Being in the moral right is one thing, being in an ambulance or or a morgue slab is something else. Whether a pedestrian or HGV driver and everything in between, look out for yourself as well as others. It’s really not that hard. |

I often take the kids to school in the morning by bicycle. I try and cycle on the road with them on the pavement but sometimes i have to go on the pavement with them. When doing so i always make way, look out for, and give priority to pedestrians (usually people with their kids too) and i also encourage my kids to put pedestrians first. I then ride my motorbike from the ‘burbs into London and see cyclists all over the place, more figuratively than literally. The A316 has dedicated cycle lanes (paid for by the tax payer) and yet lots of cyclists still go nice and slowly along the A316 which can be a dangerous road in places. I even see them go over the meccano bridge at the Hogarth roundabout (not allowed) and over the Hammersmith flyover (also not allowed) and on the odd occasion along the friggin’ west cross route and along the Westway ffs. What’s happened to people’s survival instincts? Has that been replaced by a sense of entitlement? |

Been like this for years in London. Probably a few threads on it or posts covering it. Whether their own bikes or the Lime etc rented ones, they just don’t care. Red lights, no entry, one way streets etc mean nothing to them and it’s everyone else who have to react to avoid an accident. Strangely the one place they do seem to stop is on the Regent’s Park outer circle junction by Hanover Gate. Possibly because there are cameras everywhere due to the US residence just by there. |

Derby fans still banging the drum that he did well the season they went down with the points deductions. They seem to forget that without the deductions they’d have finished with 55 points and around 17th. That’s hardly a good season when they had the likes of Allsop, Lawrence, Jaglielka, kazim-richards, Curtis Davis, etc in the team and i’m sure they would have expected to finish a lot higher at the beginning of the season. Even if you take into account that they didn’t do as well as hoped knowing they’d go down anyway (human nature i guess) if we add 10 points for that that takes them to 65 points and around 13th, one place below where we finished. Probably still not close to their target. The relegation seemed to cover up the fact he was pretty schit then too and I suspect Rosenior did most of the work anyways. [Post edited 28 May 10:01]

Would fans have tried to bunk in if the stadium had sold out all 90k seats? I'm sure knowing it was nearly a third empty promoted then to do this. I guess we'll never know for sure. |

yeah, 89mins and 59 seconds of crap and then...... wallop! I remember taking my missus to her work in Sloane Square on the motorbike and it was all yucky & drizzly. I then parked up around the back of Marylebone and met up with my mates for a beer (just the one for me!). Then the journey to the ground and the game itself. On the way back and just getting off the train at Marlebone, this quite tall Derby fan, with his gf, 'accidentally' shoulder barged me. very brave considering i'm 5' 7". I gave it the "zamorrrraaaaaa!!" and he then came up to me thinking I was on my own and quickly backed off when my mates stood behind me :D |

Derby said to their fans "bring your colours". QPR said to their fans "we'll supply the colours" Great touch. |

The forever cycle….. each party blaming the previous for years of mess to clean up. Would be nice if any government acted in a way they never left a mess to have to clean up. They’re like children, but worse, so much worse because they should actually act like adults. Some of the petty squabbling we see on tv in the HoC is embarrassing and they all giggle like it’s a game. I’m not laughing. I think most governments are like any company….. on the whole most of the staff are ok but it the few cnts who end up at the top. |
