| News Comment | Southampton Promote Youngster To First Team Squad at 14:44:12
highfield49, my understanding is that the arrangement is an obligation to buy IF we get promoted. I've heard that the player stated "100% will sign, if promoted." Things & thoughts could change though. Nick, any inside info on the terms of the THB deal? (This development seems to answer your article from yesterday re letting Holgate leave...) |
| News Comment | Alcaraz Set To Complete Loan Move To Italian Giant at 11:43:38
This is now on Sky: - "Sky in Italy are reporting Carlos Alcaraz is undergoing a medical with Juventus today ahead of joining from Southampton in a deal that could eventually be worth more than £45m. The medical tests are taking place in England and, if they are successful, he will fly to Turin tonight. The deal is set to be an initial loan with a fee of £3.2m plus an option to buy him in the summer for £42m. The loan fee will be more if he does not play a designated number of games between now and the end of the season." Hugely disappointed, hopefully we'll get promotion and a permanent deal won't go through..... |
| News Comment | Transfer Merry Go Round May See 1 Out & 2 In at St Mary's at 17:16:13
If Wolves' interest is genuine we should probably let Che go, as much as i'd like to see him sign a new contract & stay. But, we'll only have 3 days to find a replacement and with Ross Stewart unlikely to feature this season, that needs to be quick. Personally, i'd like to see us try to get Morgan Whittaker from Plymouth. Looks a real talent, just turned 23, and scoring goals in a poor side. Not sure if he's 100% a striker though, but plays RW also. Plus he's English. Is this Benson chap any good, he's 26 and doesn't seem to have ever set the wo0rld alight? |
| News Comment | Danny Ings Doesn't Want To Drop To Championship Claim at 22:08:36
He seems to have had a chip on his shoulder since Liverpool offloaded him. We should steer clear, I recall us signing a few players who clearly didn't really want to be here - Dani Osvaldo, Perry Groves are just a couple of examples, i'm sure there's more..... |
| News Comment | Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict at 18:24:18
Leicester haven't got the title wrapped up yet. Plenty of time & games left. They lose 4 key players in January for AFCON (Ndidi, Daka, Iheanacho, Fatawu), when they play Coventry (A) & Ipswich (H). We're not playing for 2nd! |
| News Comment | Southampton Squad Has Good Foundations Even After Star Player Exodus at 16:08:57
A cocktail of cope and delusion, shaken not stirred. If you think we can sell 5 CBs, 2 RBs, 7 MFs (& i can't see Djenepo or Edozie staying either), and our main striker (who we were crying out to be replaced/added to last season), and be competitive, I think you're on another planet. I also think the prices/values quoted are ambitious at best - these players will want to get away asap, and the club will want the wages off the books also asap. We're not looking to add an extension here, we're knocking thing to the ground and starting from scratch. On the plus side i'll be able to afford a season ticket, and a decent number of games for it, so not all doom and gloom :-) |
| News Comment | The Thoughts Of Chairman Gao at 13:38:09
"Gao, who has an 80 per cent stake in Saints worth around £1.6m..." I know we're not Man City or anything, but surely SFC is worth more than £2M?! |
| News Comment | Will Saints Go For Welbeck at 20:36:52
I like Danny a lot, but still don't feel he'd be value for money. Rondon would've been perfect for us last season I think. However, with Tadic and now Boufal gone, would he fit now? We don't seem to be playing the style that suited SRL or Pelle. Views? |
| News Comment | Sunday Needs Unity ! at 19:57:43
Hopefully we’ll see a bit more unity than in this comments section! A tough ask, given the situation. |
| News Comment | Saints At Liverpool The Verdict at 22:11:13
It was obvious over a month ago that the manager is well out of his depth and should be sacked. We've played 8 of our easiest games and sit where we are. How on earth anyone thought someone with no experience and no credentials could walk into the EPL and not struggle is incredible. The only question now is who do we get in to steady the ship and try to avoid relegation. Bob Barton is probably right, unless the club and fans would accept RK back? |
| News Comment | Will Anfield Suit Saints Better Than St Mary's ? at 10:37:10
Unlike last season with Puel, where I thought we had a fair to good chance of getting a draw or 1 -0 win, I fear an absolute battering. The only positive is that we might have a decent manager by December. |
