It is with sadness to report the death of Derek Pearson on April 25th.Derek was 92 years old and was a life long fan of the Dale.He started supporting them as 15 year old lad and never ceased to support them from the forties to February of this year.He only stopped going in February this year because he was too ill to make it.His favourite position was behind the goal on Sandy where he would make his opinions clear!! (He had a voice that carried!!) he was a genuine supporter who stuck with the Dale through good and bad times will miss you Derek !!
I see that rearranged game against Salford is to be on Tuesday November 8th.Neither Dale or Salford have a game on Saturday November 5th is it a league ruling that all rearranged games have to be played on a weekday night? The last game we played against Salford was on a Tuesday night with a low attendance so this will cost the club money.
I can only see one home game to be played on a Tuesday night next season which must be good news.Games against Stockport and Salford to be played on Saturday which will help attendance.
Premier league have announced mid season break covering period November 14 to December 26 2022 discuss !! .International players from championship and division 1 clubs will also be probably affected.
Listened to commentary on Radio Bolton last night and learned that Mattie Gilkes is now with Bolton as goalkeeper coach and that they are his 11th club.John McKinley and Jack Dearden were full of praise for him. They were critical of Hendos efforts and seem to be of the opinion that they are going up this season.Another interesting thing was that ex United striker remained on the bench for Salford he is only 24 perhaps BBM could mend a broken player?
Radio Bolton have reported that Bassini was reported to interested in buying Oldham who are under threat of going into administration on Friday.Nothing changes does it?
Just heard on radio that Dale have received a bill for £4500 for use of VAR at Newcastle away tie.First I have heard of this charge was there charges for VAR at Spurs tie ?seems crazy to me.
Listened to Joe has a pundit on GMR on today’s game with Bolton. He was excellent and a great ambassador for Rochdale Fc.I did not know that he has been giving motivational classes to City’s youngsters much to the appreciation of Guardiolla.Keep up the good work Joe!!
Superb article by Rod Liddell in this weeks Sunday Times stating that the balance of power in football has shifted from industrial north to affluent south.15 years ago he predicted clubs like Bournemouth,Brighton,Southampton,Reading and Swindon would one day be fixtures in the top division at the expense of Blackburn Bolton Wigan Middlesbrough,Stoke. This should be minded when we start moaning about club directors financial dealings the money needed is just not there!!
There is not one decent team worth watching in division one this season so called big clubs like Sunderland and Ipswich are disappointing. The absence of Bury and Oldham this season has made the season really flat and dull.Relegation to division 2 would not be a disaster at least we would be playing Salford and Oldham and possibly we might win some home games !! we desperately need Bury back there demise has hit us hard.
Sandy Lane stand desperately needs updating. The terraces need raising so fans can get better view of game the toilets are an embarrassment.I know money is short does anybody know if the club can get sports grants to finance the improvements ? How much would it cost ?
