It got worse than that mid to late 80s,got a sporting post in house somewhere where Chelsea having 8000for div 1 game spurs 16000 Everton 19000

Swans had very decent attendances by comparison back then.
I remember 7k at Newcastle, they were in the 2nd div as it was then.

I'm keeping an eye on the Big Match revisited on ITV4, they just finished the 1981 season when Aston Villa beat Ipswich to the title.

They also showed WHU winning, showed the top 7 of the Div 2 in Feb and we weren't there, Notts Co were 2nd but it was tight for 3rd, we must have been 8th or there abouts at the time.

Waiting like a kid on Xmas eve now for 1982
