Whatever Happened To... Simon Brown

After five years with the U's, Brown joined Hibernian on a free transfer in 2004. He spent three years at Hibs, but failed to hold down a regular place in the first team and was released at the end of the 2006-07 season, having made 65 appearances - his highlight being a Scottish League Cup winners medal in 2007, despite not appearing in the final.

He returned to England in the summer of 2007, signing for Brentford on a two-year deal. After one season he was transfer listed and spent the majority of the 2008-09 season on loan at Darlington, making 26 appearances for the Quakers. He returned to the Bees before the end of the season and made one appearance for the team which won League Two. Despite being offered a new contract at Griffin Park, he left Brentford having made 30 appearances.

In September 2009 he joined Northampton Town in a player-coach role, but left the Cobblers in the January transfer window to join Cambridge United and resume his playing career. Now aged 35, he is still on the books at Cambridge, but has yet to make an appearance this season.

Clubs since leaving the U's: Hibernian (Scotland), Brentford, Darlington (loan) Northampton Town, Cambridge United.
