What Pompey boss didn't need to tell his players ahead of Shrewsbury clash

John Mousinho says Pompey's squad know they need to keep their feet on the ground while on a run of fine form - and don't need him to reiterate it.

The Pompey boss feels his players are level-headed after good results like Monday's win over Bolton, which put the Blues six points clear at the top.

Mousinho and Co go to Shrewsbury this weekend looking to extend a run of three wins which have followed the defeat to Blackpool.

Mousinho told the club media: 'We’ve been pretty good this season at keeping our feet on the ground after decent performances and results. The reaction after we beat Bolton was measured. We enjoyed it, but knew there was another important game coming up.

'To be honest, I haven’t had to do much with the group in that regard – they do a good job of policing themselves. There’s no time to dwell too much on success or failure because you’re always going to win and lose matches throughout the season.

'You deal with them as professionally as possible, so we debriefed on Tuesday and everything since then has been about Shrewsbury.'

On the injury front, Colby Bishop is in contention after recovering from an ankle injury, while Mousinho said there were no concerns about Abu Kamara, after he picked up a knock against Bolton and came off.

Mousinho said: 'Abu’s absolutely fine and it was much less of a knock that we initially thought, so it’s not a problem. Colby is also in full training and available in full selection, so we’ve got a great dilemma with team selection coming off the back of some excellent performances from Kusini Yengi.

'We’ve got no other new injuries, with Tom Lowery and Anthony Scully out there on the pitches again. Connor Ogilvie is progressing slowly, but nicely, and is still a few weeks away.'
