Hull Agree Loan Deal With Saints Target But Player Weighing Up Options

Reports are saying that Hull City have verbally agreed a deal for a player that Southampton are said to be interested in, but the two clubs agreeing doesn't mean that it is a done deal with the player himself waiting to see what else is on the table.

hulldailymail.co.uk are saying that Burnley and Hull City have verbally agreed a loan deal that would take winger Manuel Benson from Turf Moor to Hull and that the player himself is now in talks with the Humberside club.

However the report states that Benson has other options and one of them is believed to be Southampton.

The 26 year old was signed from Belgian club Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2022 and he played a key part in Burnley's promotion playing 33 games in the Championship and notching 12 goals plus 3 assists.

However his game time this season has been limited to just 4 appearances and Vincent Kompany is willing to let him go out on loan for the remainder of the season.

Russell Martin has previously said that he is looking to rely in the main on experience to get us up this season and from this perspective this looks a good option, some Saints supporters would prefer he tries those untried such as Sam Amo-Ameyaw who has the potential, but is at a crucial time in his development, but the manager could well go for the tried and tested in this window and Benson is certainly that.

Hull themselves harbour hopes of the play offs and have already signed ex Saints striker Billy Sharp who has just returned from a short spell in the USA with LA Galaxy and they see Benson as part of that push for promotion.

It is said that what will matter to Benson is where he fits in the manager's plans, will he play regularly or will he be more of a squad player.

This is where The Tigers might hold the nap hand, his chances of playing week in week out are far higher at Hull than they would be going into a large squad at St Mary's
