Tyler Dibling Could Be Sold By Saints In January But loaned Back

The transfer mill is starting to turn in the final days of the January window and Tyler Dibling's potential departure from Southampton with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and RB Leipzig are said to be hovering.

Tyler Dibling is a great talent, but the one inevitable event for a footballer is that one day they will leave their present club, whether that is like Matt Le Tissier as a one club man, or the likes of Theo Walcott or Gareth Bale who leave their first clubs early in their career.

So the question surrounding Tyler Dibling is not if he will leave Southampton but "When".

According to the latest rumours Dibling might be about to leave Saints, but not necessarily have played his last game for the club.

The Daily Echo is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to match the £55 million starting price that Saints are said to be asking and are proposing a loan back to St Mary's if they purchase him in January.

They are not the only club said to be chasing Dibling, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle United - and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are all also said to be interested.

But Dibling's departure is still far from certain, the player and his family as known to prioritise the players future on the pitch rather than his bank account, and neither of the sides listed truly offer him a club that can offer him a role in a top team.

Manchester United are in turmoil both on and off the pitch and the latest rumour suggests that Amorim will be sacked in the summer purely for financial reasons, he has lost the dressing room at Old Trafford and if he is to succeed United will need to spend big to replace the current squad, bizarrely they are said to be taking the view that it is cheaper to sack Amorim at £5 million and get in someone who can work with the current squad, than buy in new players.

Tottenham themselves are in turmoil, they have won just two trophies since winning the FA Cup 34 years ago and they were both League cups, in 1999 and 2008, the regime at Spurs under owner Joe Levy & Daniel Levy has constantly underperformed and they have chopped and changed with each underperformance, the chances of Ange Postecoglou still being in charge in the summer are not far off Saints chances of playing Spurs in the Premier League next season.

Chelsea and Newcastle are not much better and like Aston Villa, none have done much domestically in the past decade and what has been done is all Chelsea.

So it is far from certain that Dibling is in a rush to leave, Spurs are a car crash, Chelsea are no different than when he left after his brief sojourn a couple of years ago.

From this perspective, he might be better served to follow the path of Jack Grealish who remained loyal to Aston Villa when they were relegated a decade ago and build his experience and reputation, so that when he did leave, it was to a club where he would be a regular and also challenging for honours.

But this is 2025 not 2016 and things have changed and he has an agent who is keen to make money for the company he represents not to mention now, players change agents and Dibling's agents want to make money whilst they can.

But Southampton are in a strong position, they are trying to get Dibling to sign a new deal , but that is not from necessity, the player is under contract till 2026 with an option for the club to extend it by a further year, so Saints are under no pressure to sell now.

So with only a few days of the transfer window, Tyler Dibling might well leave the club, but that doesn't mean that he has played his last game.
