Stats

School teacher Ben Speedie moved out of the National League onto the EFL list for 2020/21 when he did 29 games with 78 yellow cards (2.689) and five reds across Leagues One and Two. In 2021/22 he showed 96 yellows (2.9) and four reds through 33 appointments in the bottom two divisions and then 139 (3.86) and six in 36 games through 2022/23. Last season he showed 111 yellows (3.08) and four reds across 36 games.

QPR’s 2-1 win at Hull last season was his first game at Championship level and he’s now done five games in this division. Last season he finished up with 138 yellows and two reds in 44 games, culminating in Orient’s 2-2 draw at home to Stockport in the play-off semi-final where Charlie Kelman scored a highly controversial (miles offside) first goal for the O’s. He refereed three Wrexham matches in League One and Phil Parkinson’s men didn’t concede a goal in any of them, winning 1-0 at Wycombe and at home to Barnsley and drawing 0-0 at Bolton.

Eight games already this season and he’s already equalled his red card total of two from last season, with 24 yellows besides.
