Max wants a new deal but Bates busy blasting "Kent Man U" MP

Max Gradel has spoken about his contractual situation today but typically our gracious leader is too busy having a pop at politicians.

Gradel, who is now in the final year of his present deal and has been linked with a move to West Ham told the Yorkshire Post  earlier today  “Since I came to Leeds, I’ve always said that I want to be at this club.

“My contract finishes at the end of this season and I’ve been waiting for another contract but I haven’t been offered one yet.

“I don’t know what’s happening and I’ll wait and see. My wish was to do it as early as possible but it’s not down to me, it’s down to the club.

“I can’t sign a deal if there isn’t any deal to sign. But really, all I want to do is concentrate on football and play football.

“There will be higher expectations of me but I love pressure and it makes me play better. My aim would be to score more than 18 goals this season.”

Every Leeds fan would surely love to see Max signed up on a new deal, however it seems more than likely at best we will get another season out of him and he will move on a Bosman next summer.

Ken Bates meanwhile seems preoccupied having a go at Politicians, in particular MP Damian Collins, who has called for an enquiry into the recent takeover and ownership issues surrounding the club.

Bates blasted Collins as a "Manchester United fan living in Kent." Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Ken added "This is supposed to be the awe-inspiring, earth-shaking, fearless investigation into football generally and the things I have heard so far don't amount to a row of beans.

"They are suggesting for example that nobody should be allowed to serve on the FA council for more than 10 years. If you allow that to happen an awful lot of good experience would be lost. If it's good for football then perhaps it's good for Parliament and MPs should only be allowed to serve for 10 years. The great advantage about that is that the MPs could actually get a proper job for 10 years and find out what it's like in the workplace instead of living gilded, cloistered lives as so many of them do."

Bates boasted that Leeds were one of the few clubs who were "solvent" and "upwardly mobile" and urged politicians to let him "get on with running the club"
