The UEFA Cup and players from Sir Bobby Robson’s 1981 trophy-winning side will be at the Suffolk Show next week. Several members of the team will be there as guests of the Suffolk Agricultural Association and will parade the trophy at various places around the showground over the two days.
The likes of Frans Thijssen, Mick Mills, Paul Cooper, Alan Brazil, Kevin Beattie and John Wark are amongst the players expected to be attend, parading the UEFA Cup around the Grand Ring, visiting the Suffolk Sports Village and speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk. The trophy will also be on display in the Ringside Club Fountain in the garden area.
Town chief executive Simon Clegg said: "I am delighted that so many of the players and staff from the UEFA Cup-winning team of 1981 have agreed to attend this year’s Suffolk Show as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations.
"This will allow the tens of thousands of people who attend the show to join in the festivities as some of the players and the trophy are paraded around the showground.”
The trophy and players will be in the Grand Ring at 11am on Wednesday and 9.40am on Thursday. The trophy will be on view at the Ringside Club Fountain at 11.30am on the Wednesday and 11am on the Thursday. The players will be interviewed on BBC Radio Suffolk’s stand are at 2.30pm on both days.
Town’s own stand is in a new location next door to BBC Radio Suffolk this year (stand 496) with club merchandise at sale prices and a chance for younger fans to meet mascot Bluey and sign up for the all-new Junior Blues.
