Fifa night review

Ray Putterill, Joe Rafferty and Rhys Bennett joined a number of supporters in the Dale Bar taking place in the Trust's FIFA 13 evening.

With exactly 32 in the Dale Bar taking part, it allowed myself to flit around the room like Rochdale's answer to Dominik Diamond amongst the competitors and spectators and keep track of the scores.

It was a tense evening, with the majority of the matches being close affairs, and a fair amount of sledging taking place. Indeed, Ray Putterill was barking out the instructions for his team mates despite being one of the first to be knocked out on the night.

The eventual winner was Luke Walsh who put up a stout defensive performance against Rhys Bennett to win the final on penalties after the game had ended 1-1 aftre extra time, though there remained some bad feeling on Rhys's part for a penalty given in this game.

That victory came with an air of justice after Dale defender Rhys Bennett had attempted to cheat earlier in the tournament by requesting a change of team after the first round.

A big thanks to all those from the football club to support this event and to all the supporters who took part.
