Former Dale player manager Paul Simpson was sacked by Shrewsbury Town on Friday.
Simpson's position had been under threat over the past few weeks after a proper slump in form saw the Shrews slide out of the promotion chase. Speculation had mounted for the past few days that his time at Salop might be coming to an end, and today the axe swung. Simmo leaves Shrewsbury after two years in the job. He started with just one win from his first ten games in charge, but in his first full season he led the Shrews to Wembley via the Play Offs but he could not repeat those success in his second season.
The Shrews were his fourth managerial position following previous spells with Dale, Carlisle and Preston NE. |
