Luton Preview

The Road To Cardiff Starts Here

League One leaders Luton Town are Tuesday night's visitors for the first round of the LDV trophy, the latest incarnation of the competition that the Swans won at Wembley back in 1994. The Hatters are in blistering form at the moment, having only dropped two points in the League this season and their only defeat has come at the hands of Boston Utd on penalties in the Carling Cup.

Swans boss Kenny Jackettmay be forced to shuffle his pack for this first round tie with striker Lee Trundle joining James Thomas and Paul Connor on the injury list and Kevin Nugent also doubtful. Jackett's attacking options may well be bolstered by the loan signing of Scott Fitzgerald from Watford. Fitzgerald , 23, is expected to make his Swans debut if the move can be completed in time. The game could also be the opportunity for Jackett to give some of the Swan's impressive youth talent a chance to shine. With the likes of Chad Bond and Antonio Corbisierso hovering on the edge of the first team, Tuesday night's game could be the perfect opportunity for the youngsters to show the gaffer what they're made of whilst giving a few first team regulars a well earned rest.

Luton boss Mike Newell is also expected to rest some of the players who have contributed to their impressive start to the season. The only forced change is likely to be the the absence of goalkeeper Marlon Beresford who was replaced by Dino Seremet during Saturday's win over Peterborough.

Although the LDV Trophy won't be high on the list of priorities for either manager, the chance of an appearance at the Millenium Stadium is always an attractive proposition and with both teams in good form, the match promises to provide plenty of excitement. The memories of the Autoglass Trophy Final are flooding back again and I for one wouldn't mind experiencing it all again in Cardiff next April.

WHO ARE WE?................................JACKARMY!!
