Stern Talking To ?

Stern John could be the next out of St Mary's

According to the Trinidad & Tobago Express (Not a paper you can get delivered in Millbrook) Stern John could be the next out of the revolving door at St Mary's, with Hull City and Watford heading the queue.

But the stumbling block could be money, obviously Saints would want to try and get a transfer fee for him, but that is a negotiable amount, but his wages could be a bigger problem.

What is becoming clear at St Mary's is that over the past two years, to attract players to the club we have paid way over the top in wages and this is now coming back to haunt us, a year ago this was very much the case and Stern John is being paid big by us.

Personally I have never been a big fan ot John, yes he got a lot of goals last year, but I feel that this was very much at the expense of his strike partners and all round team play, although another striker in his position might not have got the same number of goals individually, I do believe that we would have scored a lot more with scoring spread around.

Whether this rumour has any truth in it and it does include quotes attributed to Stern John himself confirming that Clubs have shown interest, is yet to be substanciated, however I do believe that if we can offload Stern John, we should thank him for his contribution last season and wish him well in the knowledge that Southampton Football Club have taken a step forward.
