Paulo Set For Player Movements

Paulo Sousa has revealed that he expects plenty of player movement in the next week

Sousa told the Western Mail that some players need to move on for their own development and that his decisions on who had already been made.

Sousa also expects to bring in a new striker to the club believing he has just two on his books - Gorka Pintado and Stephen Dobbie.

Paulo said “I have already made my decisions about which players can leave, we will start that process next week. There is still time for them to change my mind. But sometimes, at this stage of their development, they need to go somewhere else because, in my opinion, some of them are not ready to compete for a position in my team.

“I want everyone to be ready to play in my first team. Some players need competition to develop, others need to leave. We need to find the way forward for them and the club.

"I said I want a squad of 24 or 25. You can do the maths.

“For me everyone that is ready to train is in my squad, 30 players trained yesterday.

“I still want a striker and I hope he will arrive before Leicester, Pablo (Counaga) is still one possibility but there are others we are looking at.

“There aren’t too many targets but we do have a number of players in mind. Now we need to find the good deal for everyone.

“We have spoken to a few players and we are waiting to sign someone. When everything has agreed we will let everyone know.”

He continued: “I have always said we need another striker. We only have two at the moment.

“We are still trying to bring players in as soon as possible. The earlier they get here, the more time they will have to understand our identity and to fight for a place in the first XI.

“I want a squad of 24 or 25 and, while I have more than that at the moment, I want to adjust that next week.”
