Deck The Streets In Black And White

The people of Swansea should deck the streets in black and white tomorrow to pay tribute to our football team on their League Cup triumph at Wembley on Sunday.

It is amazing to think that just over 18 months ago we lined the streets of Swansea to celebrate our promotion to the Premier League. That was allegedly a pinnacle of where we were going but through the management of the club at the very top we built on that and after a successful first season in the Premier League we lost our manager and looked to have to start again.

But the board refused to be beaten and after another managerial search they appointed one of the biggest names ever from World football to take charge at the Liberty. And now - just eight short months later - Michael Laudrup has delivered the first major trophy in the club's history and lifted them back into Europe for next season.

And it doesn't really end there as he has done it playing a brand of football that is not just admired in Swansea but across the country, Europe and beyond. The ease with which we destroyed Bradford at Wembley showed that we can produce on the highest stage against a side that had already beaten three Premier League sides already this season.

You could argue that Bradford froze in the headlights but you could just give the Swans the credit that they deserved for one of the most polished final displays in domestic cup history. And let's not forget that along the way to the triumph the Swans have also won at the homes of the holders of the trophy and the European Champions too.

And for all of this alone, we would ask that everyone takes to the streets of Swansea tomorrow night to give the team, management, staff and board the reaction that they deserve amd to show our thanks for the best times this club have ever experienced. Beyond none.

So as they make their way from the Dragon Hotel to the Guildhall, be there and raise your flags, scarves and banners to show them that this is our team, our city and this means so much to us.

Be proud of your football team and let's show it tomorrow night as the city celebrates - welcoming European football back to Wales in the process.
