Morison offered escape route home?

Millwall have today been linked with a sentimental reunion with Steve Morison.

The forward has hardly impressed since arriving in Leeds from Norwich in January as part of the deal that took Luciano Becchio to East Anglia. So far, Brian McDermott has made one signing and that is striker Matt Smith. Given that Morison arrived under McDermott's predecessor Neil Warnock, could the strikers' days be numbered at Elland Road?

It could be a case of putting two-and-two together, according to new Lions boss Steve Lomas. The ex West Ham man said today: "I’ve made a lot of enquiries for a lot of players but until you get the deal over the line it is very hard for me to try and tell you where we are at.

"You can rest assured I’ve spoken to a lot of agents and people at other clubs.

"By all accounts I’ve been linked with every player!

"Steve Morison had a really good spell here.

"I think what it is is basically people putting two and two together."

Morison has been unlucky in my opinion and people were far too quick to get on his back. He was clearly unfit when he arrived and Warnock's very public and bad handling of Luciano Becchio's situation effectively put us in a position where we were desperate to do yet another bad deal with the Canaries and lose our top-scorer -also throwing an unfit and out of sorts Morison the unenviable task of trying to fill Becchio's boots.

Yet again, the Leeds board seem to be struggling to come up with any serious cash this summer so if Millwall were to offer something in the region of £1.5m, approximately half the amount Warnock rated Morison at, then if I was him then I'd be tempted, providing of course the cash went into the transfer kitty and not to try and patch up yet another hole in the club accounts.

Either way, we still remain to be convinced we have made adequate replacement provision for the absence of the goals Becchio brought to the team. Whether a fit Morison could achieve this remains to be seen?
