Milner - Experience Could Give Us The Edge

James Milner claims City’s title-winning experience could be decisive in the Premier League battle with Liverpool. Milner says Liverpool are City’s main rivals after Brendan Rodgers’ side won their last eight league games to storm to the top of the table.

Glen Johnson is the only Reds regular to have won the league and Milner feels the Mancunian Blues' experience of lifting the title in 2012 can give them the edge.

"Yeah, it looks like Liverpool are our main contenders,” said Milner to the Daily Mirror. "Chelsea are still in there as well.

"Hopefully we can rely on the experience which we’ve got. We’ve been there, we’ve won it before. Liverpool haven’t in recent times, so hopefully that could help us.

"They are playing so well and we just have to concentrate on our games.”

City are four points behind Liverpool with two games in hand, with a head-to-head clash at Anfield to come on Sunday week, and Milner remains confident about their chances.

"It’s tight,” he said. "There are not many games left. We’ve got to take it a game at a time. We know if we play our best football, we know we can get the points required to win the league.

"Liverpool is never an easy place to go, but especially this season. They are on fire, playing well and deserve to be up there.

"It’s three points, just like all the other games, and we can’t overlook any of our games. We just need to try and finish with maximum points from now until the end and that will be enough.”
