Saints get 8th Successive Sell Out

Saints are playing before another sell out crowd when they take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Saints have announced that seating in the general seating areas has sold out for the visit of Crystal Palace making it an 8th successive sell out in all competitions in this area, although techincally not all have been completely sold out as at some games there were still corporate seating available.

But although Saints still have some work to do to tempt back the companies who were alienated during the Cortese years and once again fill out the corporate sections its great to see that the every day supporter is now flocking back to the club again after a slow start to the season.

The events of the summer saw some disallusionment in the supporter base and the 27,598 who attended the opening home game against West Brom was one of the lowest attendances for a Premier League match at the stadium, that in itself a testimony as to how well Saints fans have supported the club since the move to ST Mary's

However the stadium was still some 4,500 short of capacity on that day and it is good to see that the missing fans have returned.

Leicester City at the start of November was the first game of the season to sell out in the general seating areas and in the 7 games since it has been the same story, given the team position and the opposition due to visit St Mary's for the rest of the season its hard to see a game that wont be a sell out a the moment , now Saints have to make sure that these fans dont go missing again by making season tickets a bit more affordable to build a fan base that isn't completely reliant on results to fill the stadium whilst at the same time attracting back those lucrative companies who fill the corporate areas and put money into the club via sponsorship and advertising
