Our reward for winning at Grimsby on Tuesday night is a first ever visit to Middlesbrough's RIverside Stadium.
Having beaten Grimsby 2-0, Dale have made the second round for the fourth season in succession where they will play Championship leaders Middlesbrough who needed penalties to get past Notts County in midweek.
It's only been 2 or 3 weeks since the two teams played each other after Dale recorded a 3-2 victory against Boro in a preseason friendly that is becoming something of a regular fixture in preseason.
The only previous competitive game between the two sides is when the two sides played an EFL Trophy game at Spotland back in the 80's. After a goalless draw, the match went to penalties but the game is much remembered by Dale supporters for the performance by a young Keith Welch.
