Ex Files - Reuben Reid

He was very much a bit part in the Keith Hill revolution, but at least he showed that there was another side to Hill and Flicker.

Much has been made of the positive nature of the Keith Hill and David Flitcroft regime so far. Many have commented on how much more enjoyable it is to be around the club at this time, and I suppose there would quite rightly be a fear that it's all well and good when things are going well, but that will come a cropper when things take a turn for the worse.

Well if there was ever a fear that the atmosphere around Spotland was "too jokey", then have no fears thanks to loan signing Reuben Reid.

For Reid was drafted in on loan by Keith Hill in January 2007, and had a impressive debut coming on as a sub against MK Dons and setting up our fifth goal, skilfully holding the ball up before feeding Etuhu through to score.

However, after two sub appearances totally twenty seven minutes of football, he was on his way. Word had it that he had suggested that the training at the club was less than professional. Unorthodox maybe, but the results were proving that it couldn't be more professional if we had a team of Capello, Mourihno and Sutton masterminding our fortunes.

And with that Reid was despatched back down South, with his tale between his legs only to find an equally unhappy Ian Holloway waiting for him to issue him with a two week suspension from the club.

Reid finished the season on loan with Torquay, where he scored twice in his first two games, yet couldn't do anything to prevent the Gulls from being relegated.
