Gary McAllister finally gets his man!
Six months after first asking, Enoch Showunmi is finally a Leeds player.
The Nigeria and Bristol City forward had the chance to come to Elland Road back in January, but snubbed United's overtures and went to Sheffield Wednesday instead.
We really have to trust Macca's judgement on this one! As well as choosing the Owl's over us, Showunmi is hardly what you call a prolific scorer.
The 26-year-old failed to score whilst at Hillsborough. At Bristol City, he managed 13 goals in 50 starts which admittedly was more consistant than at his first club Luton. Showunmi managed just 14 goals in 104 appearances for the Hatters!
Having shipped out Leon Constantine to Northampton last week, it remains to be seen whether or not Showunmi ha been signed as merely a back-up man for Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford, or Macca's long pursuit of him means he is in for a more regular role.
Amazingly, there has been little speculation about Beckford's future and thankfully so! Last season's 20-goal man surely must be retained if we are to summount a challenge for promotion.
Lets just hope that Enoch has been signed to boost the squad and not to replace Beck's!
Ironically, Leeds were linked with Showunmi's former Bristol City team-mate Mr Jamelia (c) toellandback.org. Darren Byfeld around 10-days ago.
