Where is this "common knowledge", off the record pitch problem diagnosis, set out in print?

You've summed it up in a nutshell: whatever Nourry communicates as the club line, others will provide a nod and a wink that they've heard a different view from an internal source.

What's the implied issue with leveraging an agent relationship to bring in a set of players from a particular market? Isn't a better question, what is the ongoing oversight of the transfer strategy by the board of directors?

They have said that Oz produces an "athletic profile" that they think can potentially thrive in the Championship. The answer to the Norway question suggested they weren't quite as athletic and that was data-led analysis!

Would this be a non-issue if one or two of them become successful Championship players in the next season?

The term "armchair critic" comes to mind when people have a go at the groundsman or the fitness team. Of course they know they need to improve those areas, but why would a manager come out and throw those employees under the bus? Just not reasonable or fair for continuous sniping or carping from the sidelines. Let the club manage through the issues and support their team.

I could be just as cynical and question why bloggers keep throwing these questions out into the public discourse, as it creates noise and traffic to their websites, ultimately generating income for them!

Players that the club would want to move on:

Frey and Nardi are looking like they are surplus/coming to the end of their contracts and therefore will move on for little compensation.

Players the club could be tempted to book a profit on:

Home-grown players such as Murphy Cooper, Alfie Lloyd, Kolli, Chair(!), Field(?) are all potentially sellable and profit can be booked as they hold minimal cost in the accounts?

Players that want to move on:

Varane? Hevertton Santos?

Players that other clubs might want to make us an offer for that we might not refuse:

Burrell. Madsen.

Unbeaten match run extended to 3!

Thought the effort from the players was generally good. Both teams seemed unable to figure out how to play downwind on a bouncy pitch...keep the ball on the ground?

Dembélé new boo boy?
at 15:57 19 Jan 2026

Dead ball prowess - i've seen him hit a couple of free kicks high, wide and handsome (including in the West Ham game). Can this responsibility be assigned to someone else (or don't take a pot-shot at all if you can't be close to hitting the target)?

Like a balance sheet, if he can't contribute as an asset consistently in an offensive way, then the fact that he's a total liability defensively is going to count against him.

I'm sure everyone would like to see him succeed (no boos), but it requires more commitment defensively than his standard ghostly press to become a long-term championship player.

The rules of Road Runner – Report

What would Joe Walsh have to do to rate more than a seven? Surely the best keeping performance of the season?

I saw a reference that the crowd of 58k was the third largest to watch a West ham FA cup match in history. Presumably the same may apply for Rangers?

There are a few points to debate about the bench. It was clearly light on attacking options as Burrell is injured and Frey and Vale were omitted altogether. Only Bennie and Smyth could provide attacking replacements. With Saito's injury and Smyth coming on early, that narrowed our options further and likely led to players remaining on the pitch longer than otherwise.

Interesting Esquerdinha being on the bench but then using Field as left back.

Yes, so one conclusion (from this occurring two years running) would be that beating a team in the bottom three of the Prem, desperate for a win, is not as easy as it might appear!

Might not be a QPR thing? Burnley stuffed Millwall 5:1...and Wolves won 6:1.

All about expectations. Glass half-full or half-empty?

We exceeded my expectations and if we were more fortunate with a home draw for that game or if the replay rule still applied, a one-all draw after 90 minutes would have been considered a "result"!

We weren't perfect, but i still consider that a worthy effort and hopefully a big step forward for this team and its relationship with our fans after some iffy away performances.

This is like a whodunnit mystery...Hercule Poirot should be summoned to solve the case.

On Sunday, one could see how little sunlight the pitch gets at this time of year. If they ever rebuild the stadium on this site, they should consider that factor!

Paul Smyth - Social Media Abuse
at 11:39 3 Jan 2026

Well, the fanbase is not independent from the club given the fan forums and supporters organisations and the election of leaders for each of those groups. I also find it hard to believe it's not possible to firstly identify the ringleaders (through stewards) and secondly communicate to those season ticket holders in that section what is and isn't appropriate for ongoing behaviour and set out disciplinary action if warnings are not heeded.

Paul Smyth - Social Media Abuse
at 18:10 2 Jan 2026

While we are on the topic of how the club handles the topic of abuse, does the club consider it acceptable for a certain minority to sing "Marti, Marti you're a c%$!" or "Lino, Lino you're a c%$!"? It seems that oversteps the boundary of bants/home crowd influence vs puerile, obscene abuse.

Shame he missed his kick in the second half on what would have been a contender for goal of the season if he'd connected!
