at 19:02 28 Jan 2026

Bannan is always fit, which doesn’t fit our profile.

Well given what was about to occur, I was thinking if I was in his boots, multi millionaire at 30, great career enhanced by a club that took me on, taught me what I needed to know and ended up never actually playing for them, I might want to repay them by seeing if I could spend a paltry three months helping them eradicate that four point difference and maybe propel them to the promised land of similar wealth.

Yes, I know, but I can dream can’t I ?

Fitter still though than most of our wingers.

Chelsea paying him £325k a week to do nothing since May 24, can’t they lend him to us for three months just to see if he can prove himself worth a buyer?

Christian Nourry - Two Year Anniversary
at 14:43 27 Jan 2026

Since Nourry came in, it does feel like we have some direction.

For a man who likes a data base, he might find a quick look at the squad ratings could be the key to success. All the players averaging over 5.7 are big solid bastards aside of Mr Chair who’s a little solid bastard.

Insert the words ‘solid’ and ‘bastard’ into his algorithm and all his dreams can come true.

Four minutes of madness – Report
at 11:14 26 Jan 2026

Agree with you. On the tv it does look saveable but tv tends to somehow take the speed out of the ball, at the ground it was bullet like, only needs a tiny bit of movement and a keeper stands no chance.

In the end, that wouldn’t have come to pass if he’d made what should have been an elementary catch or at worst, a decent punch, for their equaliser.

Only just watched it back and didn’t realise at the game what a terrible error the keeper made for their equaliser.

Puts a different perspective on it now. At any level you can’t be flapping at that sort of cross.

From SAR it looked like they’d planted a strip of grass down the middle, presumably for Madsen as nobody else can pass the sodding ball.

Just back
at 09:04 25 Jan 2026

Calmed down a bit now, absolutely gutted how it ended.

As was said further up the thread, considering how excellent Madsen and the two central defenders played, it was unbelievable that we conceded three goals. Another reason why defensive stats can lie, the problems start higher up the park.

We can blame Mbengue actions for the loss of three points but the stand out problem overall is further up the pitch. Different player than at West Ham but once again we saw a piece of amazing skill, this time from Madsen, tackle and break through two players, stride on for nigh on fifty yards and not one of our wide men to be seen, Madsens inevitable shot made as Dembele and Smyth put on a no show, when the move ended Smyth was fully 10 yards behind him. At this level it’s scandalous.

Kone isn’t playing well but he needs the three players behind him orchestrating everything to get him in the box, it never happens.

Much has been made of the RB fouling Smyth, I don’t see it that way, he just had him in his pocket. Dembele flat refuses to find space behind the LB, Vale did an ok job that largely consisted of defence minded duties, but difficult to play forward if your wingers aren’t in sync. Fitness levels simply not good enough, lord knows what goes on behind the scenes.

It’s a real shame as despite glaring deficiencies, we should be level on points with 6th place and find ourselves 4 points behind with Coventry coming to town next.

Yesterday was a proper punch in the bollocks.

If they’re playing Moore and Smith up front it would be mad to split up Dunne and Cook today.

I like Ronnie but not up against Moore.

Film 2026; don't think we have such a thread yet

See that you’re a table tennis player and you enjoyed Marty Supreme, so you’re the ideal person to ask this question.

Did you, like me, think his stance looked nothing like a table tennis player. Those trick shots performed from behind his back were laughable.

I have a long standing loathing of actors who can’t even portray at least an image of whatever professional sport they’re representing, yet somehow this fellas up from an Oscar as best actor. Surely the starting point of any acting performance is to at least look realistic.

Sounds like he’ll be doing all the running behind defences that our wingers don’t do. Hope the fellas as fit as a fiddle.

FFP has created a level playing field largely through the removal of quality players.

Feb the fourth, outrageous really.

Subject to the next two home games, perhaps we should have some sort of celebration/ commiseration to honour a whole year without a win in possession.

Such a shame that Roy Castle and Ross McWhirter are no longer around, it’s the sort of obscure event crying out for an appearance on Record Breakers and a subsequent place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Modicums of comfort
at 08:18 21 Jan 2026

Keepers save the reason we got a point.

Madsen the only forward thinking player that ever looks comfortable with a ball at his feet, that is worrying.

Dunne and Cook have been immense, in fact the defence, Hayden, have all been decent. To me, pretty much all season, the defensive side has looked top half, whilst the attacking part has looked bottom half. That said, the goals scored/conceded stats say the opposite. It feels like Madsen and Burrell have carried the attack all season, the contribution from the three behind the forward has and continues to be woeful. I’m not sure there’s been a single assist from Smyth and Dembele in the Championship to date.

Vale cameo, gulp, looked something like the player who started the season. He’s the only other player beyond Madsen who can find time and space, let’s hope he’s fully recovered this time.

Has there been a law introduced that says no player is allowed to dribble round an opposition player?

Ball control seems to be an alien concept.
