Another look at those who managed just the one game.

Colin Cramb was signed by Ian Branfoot in the summer of 1993 from Hamilton Accademicals after the then 18 year old had hit 10 goals in 48 games prompting Branfoot to take a gamble on him.

He soon became a fixture in the reserve squad and in December of 93 he found himself on the bus to Goodison Park, so nervous was he that he forgot to pack a pair of shoes to wear with his club suit.

It was a pretty dismal game all round for Saints although Cramb did get his chance coming off the bench to join fellow Saints debutant Dave Beasant, Tony Cottee scored the only goal of the game on 36 minutes to give Everton all three points in what was a relegation six pointer and dropped Saints into 21st place, only Swindon below them.

But this was to be the last chance that Cramb got for the first team, a month or so later Branfoot was sacked and after the arrival of Craig Maskell he found himself even further down the pecking order so it was no surprise that he moved on in the summer of 1994, back to his native Scotland to join Falkirk.

Cramb would then have what would be described in footballing circles as "More clubs than Jack Nicklaus" after a short stop at falkirk he joined Hearts, then back south where he spent two years apiece at Doncaster, Bristol City & Crewe making a fair few appearances for each and squeezing in  loan spells at Walsall, Notts County & Bury for good measure, by 2001 and still aged only 27 he had played for 10 clubs.

In 2001 he ventured abroad and joined Fortuna Sittard in Holland, spending two years there as well as a return to Bury on loan, in 2003 he joined Shrewsbury and with 35 games yielding 12 goals he then moved to Grimsby where he was not a success and rejoined Hamilton after only six months, but his career was not to stop back where it started, he wenton to Stenhousmuir, Stirling Albion and then East Stirling before hanging up his boots at the age of 35 in 2009, even in his final season he managed a decent ratio scoring 9 times in only 20 games.

His career spanned 18 years, 16 clubs, 447 appearances and 124 goals, all in all a decent career

Wints76 added 20:32 - Jul 7 I went to that Everton game, on the coach back (Eastside Travel if you remember them?) the radio had news of a managerial casualty at Goodison Park. We all expected that branfoot had finally gone but it turned out to be Kendall. My then girlfriend also got hammered on cheao cider that day. Dave beasent took the piss out of her at the services. I expect she was drunk at the thought of seeing Colin Cramb.
