Trust Week - Why join the Trust?
Trust Week - Why join the Trust?
Wednesday, 19th Jun 2013 12:00 by Dale Trust

So you’ve decided to become a member of the Trust, so what do you get for your money aside from a shiny new membership card?

Fancy having access to the directors? Every couple of months, the Trust will sit down with the directors in a two way dialogue over pressing matters at the football club and ways to take the Dale forward. As part of these meetings, we will invite questions from our members that we will ask on your behalf, publishing the responses on our website and via email.

Fancy winning a player’s shirt? Every month the Trust runs the Player of the Month competition, where all supporters can vote on Dale’s best in a particular calendar month. Once all the votes are in and counted, we will draw one Trust member from all of the votes, and they will make the presentation to the winning player and will also walk away with his match worn shirt.

Fancy saving money? As a member, you will acquire a number of discounts at various local organisations. We are very much of the belief that Rochdale organisations should benefit Rochdale people, and as such, through our Friends of the Trust, there is an ever growing list that you can take advantage. Whether it be eating out, buying a pint, keeping fit, fixing your car, buying clothes, or even designing a brand new house, showing these companies your 2013-14 Trust membership card will save you money – and in some cases far more than the cost of your Trust membership card.

Fancy being kept up to date? Each Sunday, the Trust will email out all of its members its newsletter giving information as to what the Trust is up to or working on to fully keep you abreast of developments. This will be exclusive to members, and will also be used to seek out the views of the members as to the direction that the Trust takes.

Fancy deciding who is on the Trust? The beauty of any Supporters Trust is that the people running it are the ones that the members have decided should do so. So if you think we do an awful job, do something about it, vote us out and replace us with someone you feel could do a better job.

Fancy sponsoring a game? Each season, the Trust will sponsor three matches at Spotland and will do a draw of its members to see which eighteen supporters will represent the Trust. Those lucky enough to be drawn out will receive match tickets (for the main stand), a meal before the game and passes to the Players’ Lounge for before and after the game.

Fancy the social side of things? The Trust likes to arrange a number of social events through the year to help reinforce that feeling of Team Rochdale. We try and cater for all tastes and have helped organise events such as the End of Season Awards evenings, the club’s Christmas Party, a FIFA night, Fans Forums, Quiz Night, Race Nights, Kit Auctions, Lancashire Nights, Curry Nights, Chinese Nights, Sponsored Walks, Exile Days etc. And where demand for tickets is high, we ensure that priority is given to Trust members.

Fancy having an organisation that acts on your behalf? The Trust is always keen to seek out the views of its members whatever the issue. For example, last year following concerns from members, we investigated ticketing at Morecambe, misreporting in the media, catering at Spotland, ticket pricing for junior supporters and many others. The Trust will be on hand in the Ratcliffe Suite before every Saturday home game, and at any of our events throughout the year.

Fancy being able to get tickets for all ticket games on the day of the game? Following discussions with both the club and the authority, in the event of an all ticket game, Trust members will exclusively be able to get their tickets on the day of the game – subject to availability.

Fancy being part of an organisation which has over six hundred members, over seven thousand shares in the Football Club, a real voice within the club, gives benefits and discounts to members, and acts in the best interests of both the supporters and the football club? If so, then join today.
