New rules for admin clubs
Sunday, 7th Jun 2015 09:45 by Col

The Football League have announced that they are increasing the penalty for clubs that enter administration.

One the face of it, the rules regarding financial fair play seem to be working, The use of wage caps, transfer embargoes and the threat of points deductions have ensured that it is now over two years since a team entered administration, and even in that case, it was a team (Aldershot) that did so after leaving the Football League. In the ten years previous to this, 23 out of the 92 teams in the Premier and Football Leagues were in administration at one time or another.

But to ensure this recent success continues, the Football League Chairmen have voted at their annual conference in Portugal to increase the ten points penalty for teams entering administration to twelve. A further rule is that supporters will be given the chance to purchase their club by the administrators within three weeks of the club entering administration.
