Curtis' Accrington warning: It might not be pretty
Sunday, 25th Apr 2021 21:15 by pompey-fans.com staff

Pompey matchwinner Ronan Curtis hopes the 1-0 success over Bristol Rovers can be the springboard to an end-of-season run into the play-offs.

Curtis got the only goal to relegate Rovers and put the Blues back in the play-off picture - but they now need to win their final three games and hope Charlton add another slip-up somewhere to their defeat to Peterborough on Saturday.

It will be tight but Curtis is confident ahead of the trip to Accrington on Tuesday night. He told the club website: 'We can do amazing things with this group of players and hopefully this is the start of another run to the end of the season. There are three games left and each one is now like a cup final for us as we try to get into those play-offs.

'It feels good to win, but we’ve got to take it step by step and look to keep on getting more results like that. We need to give everything in each game and hopefully we’re in the top six after the last one of them.

'I’ve got trust in this group of lads and everyone — including all the staff and the board — here is excellent, so hopefully we can get the job done. We’ll go to Accrington on Tuesday night and it might not be pretty, but we’re there to try to win again.

'There are a lot of injuries at the moment — especially in attacking positions — and there’s plenty of talent missing. Those front four are having to play almost every minute and it’s mentally tough, but I want to play in all the games because I love it.'

After the visit to the Wham Stadium, Pompey go to AFC Wimbledon next Saturday then host Accrington on May 9 in their final league game.
