Rochdale have announced the signing of experienced central defender Aden Flint on a deal until January, following his departure from Walsall.

The 37-year-old has made more than 500 senior appearances during a career spanning the Football League and non-league, and brings considerable experience to Ian Watson’s squad.

Flint began his career with Pinxton before spells at Alfreton Town and Matlock Town. His performances for Alfreton earned him recognition with the England C team before he made the step up to the EFL with Swindon Town in 2011.

He went on to enjoy a lengthy spell with Bristol City, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 2015/16. Flint later represented Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City before joining Mansfield Town.

At Mansfield, Flint played an important role in their promotion-winning campaign and was named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2024.

He subsequently joined Walsall, making just shy of 50 appearances for the club.
Interestingly, Flint made his EFL debut against Rochdale during his time with Swindon, while his first appearance for Dale could come against his former club Walsall tomorrow
