Will Becchio blow finally force Grayson and Bates' hand?

With news that Luciano Becchio is likely to be out until October, will Simon Grayson finally be forced to make some moves in the transfer market?

Leeds fans have been left feeling somewhat underwhelmed regarding our transfer business this summer. Having seen three high profile departures re: Messers Schmeichel, Kilkenny and Johnson and continued fever-pitch speculation over the future of Robert Snodgrass and Max Gradel, so far Grayson has only brought in freebies Michael Brown and Paul Rachubka.

Grayson has however stated publically this week that forwards are not his priority, pointing out that although his front-line has been seriously depleted by the loss of hamstring-victim Becchio and Davide Somma who faces six-months out due to damaged knee ligaments, he still has the likes of Ross McCormack, Billy Paynter, Ramon Nunez and Max Gradel - for the time being.

Leeds head to Sheffield Wednesday today with Grayson expecting to make a decision on three trialists who featured in the win over Rochdale midweek. Isiah Osbourne, JLloyd Samuel and Alexander Mendy are all available on Bosman free transfers - which will appeal to Grayson and the Elland Rd bean counters.

Grayson also dropped a hint on Friday he was waiting on an answer from one or maybe two potential signings over the weekend, however Leeds have failed to agree personal terms with several summer targets including Andy Lonergan and Lee Bowyer - who opted to join Ipswich as it was closer to home for him.
