McClure Could Be Back?
McClure Could Be Back?
The South Wales Evening Post revealed on Saturday that there is a clause in the contract that let Lewis act as custodian that if no major backer is found within three months then the club can pass back to 9th Floor for the same price. (£1) |
A spokesman for the company told the Evening Post "In the event that no security is put in place during this time, the Ninth Floor has the option to reacquire it's shareholding for £1" |
The whole takeover of the club seems to have been somewhat of a farce since McClure first stated that the club was up for sale towards the end of last season. Various rumours of people interested ranging from Chris Evans through to Tom Jones have eminated but so far there has been no serious interest confirmed. |
A couple of statements suggested that this was a pure temporary move to put Lewis in charge and suggestions that the new investors would not deal with McClure again do not seem to be coming to fruition. |
What we now have is an 11-week period for Lewis to find investors otherwise we could see Neil McClure back through the doors at the Vetch before October is out. The clock is ticking. |
