Leon - Saturday Will Be A Weird Day

Leon Britton lines up against a former club for the first time Saturday admitting he knows it will be a weird day

Britton left Swansea City in the summer for Sheffield United and this afternoon will line up against his former team mates with the Swans looking to lift themselves into 2nd place in the Championship table.

But Britton has an idea of what to expect having been in the away end at Wigan when the Swans played there in the Carling Cup.

"I was a bit apprehensive about it," he told the Evening Post.

"I wondered whether I would get a bit of stick, but to be fair the Swans fans were brilliant.

"There were one or two comments, which you have to expect I suppose, but 99 per cent of them were great with me.

"Some were singing my name and others were wishing me luck, which was really nice.

"I had a great relationship with the Swansea fans throughout my time at the club," he adds.

"It would be great if they gave me a good response tomorrow, but I have to understand that people have opinions.

"If people cheer me I will be delighted, but if they boo I have to accept that. I don't know which way it will go.

"Things haven't gone as well as I thought they would or anyone at the club thought they would," he concedes.

"We set targets at the start of the season and we didn't expect to be in this position, but there's a lot of football still to be played. We know that in this league, a little run can shoot you up the table.

"I'm delighted to see Swansea going so well," he says.

"I still keep in touch with all the lads and the staff, and I would love to see them get into the Premier League.

"I am still a fan of Swansea. You don't spend as long as I did at a club and then just forget it.

"It's going to be a strange feeling lining up in the tunnel against so many lads I know so well," Britton says.

"I have only ever played for Swansea until now, so this is the first time I'll have come up against a former club.

"It's going to be a weird day."
