Brendan - There Are Three Points Up For Grabs

Brendan Rodgers insists his side will approach tomorrow's clash with Manchester United the same as they approached their last home game against Bolton

Brendan Rodgers insists his side will approach tomorrow's clash with Manchester United the same as they approached their last home game against Bolton

And whilst the bookies have instilled Man Utd as 1/2 favourites to triumph at the Liberty, Rodgers suggested that there may be some pressure on them in a game they are expected to win.

Swans fans looking to cash in on a shock can get 11/2 on a home victory tomorrow which may tempt a few £ in Swansea in the build up to the game as they defend one of only four unbeaten home Premier League records and an unbeaten Satirday record at the Liberty that stretches back almost two years,

Rodgers said "This is the kind of game that the big teams need to win

"When you are one of the big clubs, you are judged on the games against the other big clubs whether you are Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham.

"That is because games like this are the ones you should win if you are investing millions and millions in a team. But that does not mean we will go into the game feeling that if we lose it doesn't matter because it does.

"We want to stay in this league and what I have said to the players is that three points are like gold at this level, but one point can also do a lot for you.

"If you look up from where we are in tenth place, there are only maybe five or six points (between Swansea and sixth spot) and I'm one that looks forward, not back.

"We want to get as many points as we can and whether it's Manchester United or Bolton, there are still three points up for grabs.

"The fundamental idea of our game does not change," he added.

"But at this level, and particularly when you are playing one of the top European sides, you have to be aware that they will have players who can hurt you.

"For me, the transition will be a big thing. One of the things that pleased me most after we drew at Liverpool was Kenny Dalglish coming out and saying that they couldn't string five or six passes together.

"That's because we worked hard to get the ball back very quickly, and that does not allow teams to make passes.

"We will be creative and offensive as always tomorrow, but we will be tactically disciplined too."
