Is This Your Favourite Premier League Season?

As the Swans secure another three points this weekend to take the tally for the season to 43 it seems almost certain that this time around we will set a new mark with the number of points we will earn in a season.

That record tally currently stands at 47 - a figure that we achieved in our first season here under Brendan Rodgers. And with eight games left to go we are surely going to top that figure and most likely go beyond the 50 point barrier which would be an incredible achievement.

We have already secured 12 wins this season which matches the tally achieved in that season under Rodgers but with eight games to go that is almost certainly another mark that we will eclipse before the season ends.

And that is why we start to wonder whether this is our best Premier League season to date?

2011/12

We arrived in the Premier League as everyone's favourites for the drop. And without a goal in our first three Premier League fixtures there was little that we showed at those times to change people's minds but as we found our feet the results started to flow. Home wins were achieved against Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool and whilst we had to wait until January for our first away win we stayed up with plenty to spare, defying the odds in the process.

2012/13

Brendan Rodgers departed at the end of the first season and was replaced by a true legend of the game in Michael Laudrup. His first game in charge was one few will forget as we won 5-0 away from home on the opening day at QPR and this led to some of the best football we have seen as Swansea fans. The first half demolition of West Brom at the Liberty for me was the most complete 45 minutes of football I have ever witnessed and there were wins during the season at Arsenal in the league and Liverpool and Chelsea in the League Cup which we went onto win - the first major trophy in our 100 year history. Premier League survival was achieved a week after that final but the season faded away with a whimper after that.

2013/14

The fading away in the league at the end of the previous season was repeated at the start of the new campaign as the Swans never really captured the league form of the previous two seasons. The European campaign gave us some fantastic memories but it was at the expense of the league form and position and that ultimately was what cost Laudrup his job at the start of February after a poor performance at West Ham. The Swans gave Garry Monk the chance to put things right and he did as the Swans once again stayed up with some to spare.

2014/15

It may not be the end of the season but with league safety more than already secured we can already look back over a league double over Manchester United as well as another victory over Arsenal. The Swans have continued to defy the critics during the course of the season and now seem capable of grinding out results when they need to as we move towards a record points tally and highest league position.
