Koeman Focusing On Europe Not Record Points Total
Ronald Koeman has spoken of the need to focus on qualifying for Europe and not breaking records ahead of Saints trip to Stoke City.
Ronald Koeman has told his players to forget record points totals and concentrate on winning games at Thursday's press conference.
Saints have already equalled last season's best ever premier league points total but beating that will mean nothing if the Club do not qualify for at least the Europa league and Koeman feels its important that his players pay no attention to breaking tht record.
"That’s not the most important because then you can say after one point more point more it’s enough,” Koeman told Southampton’s official YouTube channel, "no, we will fight for every point.
"We fight for European football, that’s more important.
"Of course, if you take this season and they ask in the beginning about the points what we have or the clean sheets or winning games, it’s maybe more than we expect.
"But we would like to do more, to win more games and to finish in the highest position in the table.”
