Koeman Confirms Injury Situation For Trip To Anfield
Ronald Koeman has given details of the squad's injuries ahead of the visit to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Ronald Koeman has already confirmed that Marten Stekelenburg has trained normally in the latter part of the week after the back problem that kept him out against Leicester City last week and he is also hopeful that Cedric Soares will be Ok to face the Scousers after coming off against the Foxes with a head injury.
But there are doubts over Jay Rodriguez who has an ankle injury which would be a blow with Shane Long still missing after his injury on International duty.
Speaking on the Club's official website Koeman said.
It’s not looking good (Cédric’s eye), because it’s still all the colours you can get on your eye, but he can train normally and that’s no problem,” he added.
"We still have the same injuries what we had last week, with Shane Long. Jay is a little bit struggling with his foot at the moment and we have to wait for the weekend.”
Saints had two days off during the week in preparation for Sunday’s game, and Koeman feels it was important for his players to get some rest.
"It was a good week. We had two days off, Monday and Thursday. We needed that to be fresh for the weekend,” Koeman explained. "Friday and Saturday we will have good sessions.
"We had some players with some physical problems, but it looks like most of them are available for the weekend.”
