Questions asked as Balanta joins Wycombe

In what seems to be a bizarre move QPR have loaned out attacker Angelo Balanta to League Two leaders Wycombe.

Balanta has started three times and made three substitute appearances for QPR this season, scoring two goals against Swindon and Nottingham Forest and picking up one assist. The 18 year old youth team graduate opened his QPR account last season against Sheffield United at Loftus Road and will stay with the Chairboys for two months.

Caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “This move will be a valuable part of Angelo's development as a professional footballer. Some of the best players in the current England squad, including David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand, were loaned out to lower League sides in the early part of their careers and the positives far out-weigh the negatives. It will be greatly beneficial for him to play for a Wycombe side currently flying high at the top of League Two."

QPR can recall the player with 24 hours notice during the second month of the deal and Balanta cannot feature in Wycombe’s FA Cup tie at Eastwood Town following their win at AFC Wimbledon on Monday night.

In my opinion this move is hard to fathom from a QPR point of view. Rangers are struggling to create chances and score goals and Balanta is a talented player who has already shown that he is capable of doing both. The last time QPR scored more than two in a game was the last time he started, and he scored one of them. With our scoring record the way it is, Akos Buzsaky out for the season and Lee Cook struggling for Saturday this move seems to make no sense whatsoever as I expected Balanta to be pushing for a start against Burnley on Saturday.

Nevertheless we wish Angelo all the very best and hope he does well for Wycombe, I just wish he was being given a chance to play first team football with us ahead of some other members of our squad who have done half as much with twice as many chances as Balanta.
