Agyemang adds to Rangers' injury woes

Following the season ending injury to Martin Rowlands earlier this week QPR have been rocked further by the news that Patrick Agyemang will miss the next three months of action as well.

Agyemang picked up a thigh injury in training a fortnight ago and went under the surgeon’s knife for an exploratory operation while Rangers were playing Coventry City at Loftus Road. The results of that operation are now in and unfortunately it seems that Agyemang, who missed the first three months of the season injured, now faces a similar length of time on the sidelines again.

Physio Paul Hunter told the official website: "In terms of recovery time, unfortunately we're talking months rather than weeks - we're hoping it will be around the three-month mark. We have already had a review with the surgeon, who is happy with the early progress he is making. To be fair to him, Pat has been first class so far, but realistically the earliest comeback for him is mid-April."

Agyemang has made ten starts and ten sub appearances this season scoring once against Southampton at Loftus Road. This latest blow means Rangers have lost Rowan Vine, Akos Buzsaky, Martin Rowlands and Patrick Agyemang for long periods of time this season - arguably the four best players we had in the second half of the last campaign.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has been talking about QPR’s role in the imminent departure of midfielder Ben Watson who is likely to complete a move to the Premiership, probably to Middlesbrough, this week. Warnock said: “There is a couple of clubs that have made enquiries and we’ve agreed fees with. I can tell you West Ham and Fulham it is not. I don’t know whether Ben is going to speak to anyone else but he is up in Middlesbrough discussing terms now.

“I will be sad personally, I think all the lads will be, he is part of the furniture here but he is going to be a very exciting player. I’m pleased for him and the club, especially the chairman. We had such a derogatory offer of £500,000 from QPR and early on in the season it was unsettling for Ben. £2m is more realistic for someone of Ben’s quality.”

Elsewhere the Briatore to Torino rumour seems to have died before it every really got going - the QPR owner has denied he is interested in buying the Italian side following stories about his potential involvement yesterday.

Finally it has been announced that QPR will be entering a team into the Sky Sports Master Football tournament this summer - Rangers will compete on June 20 at Wembley Arena against Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs, Fulham and Arsenal.
