Bednarek Get First Poland Cap
There was good news for Saints Polish central defender Jan Bednarek last night as he won his first full cap for Poland.
Jan Bednarek might not be ready for Premier League action just yet, but Poland thought he was ripe for his first taste of International football at the highest level when he came on as substitute for the Poles against Kazakhstan in Warsaw last night.
The game was already dead and buriied with the Poles 3-0 up when Bedanarek entered the fray in the 89th minute, but it showed that Poland are willing to blood him and see him as one for the future after graduating from their age based sides.
This puts Poland in Pole position in group E of the World Cup qualifyers and with two games to play they are three points clear and in with a good chance of automatic qualification.
Their next game is away to second bottom Armenia, a win there could see them qualify with second placed Montenegro at home to third placed Denmark, both will start that day 3 points behind Poland, if they draw and the Poles win they are through.
Otherwise it will all go the final day when Poland host Montenegro.
Bednarek's start at St Mary's has been slow so far with his only first team game being against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Cup, a game where he did not exactly shine, although to be fair neither did the other two Yoshida & Stephens, in an experimental back three that looked mishaped and was not supported by the wing backs.
