2017/18 Season Review - Sam McQueen
Sam McQueen has already been linked with Bristol City I would suspect that it is time for him to move on, he will have a fine career in football perhaps just not at Saints.
At 23 Sam McQueen is at perhaps the same crossroads he was at 2 years ago, back then he looked likely to move after a less than impressive loan spell at Southend it was hard to see where his future lay at St Mary's.
But he was coverted into a left back and put in some decent performances although most of these were in the cup competitions, indeed he has only stated 6 Premier League games in his career with another 14 as sub.
This season saw him struggle for game time with only 1 start that in the scoreless draw at Old Trafford back in December, apart from that his appearances have been sporadic off the bench all for little cameos rather than any meaningful time more than the last 12 minutes or so.
Indeed it seems like he has played a lot more than he actually has, this term however apart from his 90 minutes at Manchester united his other 6 sub appearances totalled 52 minutes, mostly in the first 3 games and ironically the last 2.
It is hard to predict what will happen in the left back spot next term, it seems that Ryan Bertrand might go, if he does then it will either be an experienced signing coming in or Matt Targett.
So it is likely that Sam McQueen will move on this summer and hopefully he will enjoy a long career in a lower division, perhaps even return to the Premier League, but I think his time is up at St Mary's
