Saints And Wolves Interested In Italian Striker
According to media reports Saints are alongside Wolves in considering a bid for Atalanta's Italian International striker Andrea Petagna
The Italian media are suggesting that Andrea Petagna is the latest player to be scouted by Premier League clubs with a fee of around £10-12 million enough to take him to England
On the face of it though his stats aren't that impressive, he has scored only 9 Serie A goals in 63 appearances for Atalanta.
Turning 23 on Saturday he started at AC Milan, but made only 3 league appearances and spent much of his time out on loan, but without much success.
It was while at Ascoli on loan in Serie B in 2015/16 season he started to attract attention and Atalanta signed him permanently from AC Milan in January 2016, although they loaned him straight back to Ascoli for the rest of the season.
In 2016/17 he was a regular in the Atalanta team and although he scored only 5 goals in 34 Serie A Games this was enough to earn him his first and so far only cap for Italy in March 2017 coming on as a substitute in a friendly against the Netherlands.
Last season was pretty much the same as the previous Petagna scored 4 goals in 29 appearances, not a record that will excite either Saints or Wolves fans.
