Leicester Do Saints A Favour

Watching Sky Sports Soccer Saturday was almost as nerve wracking as watching Saints themselves as Leicester City battled through adversity to earn what looked like being foe most of the game an unlikely victory, but it did Saints a big favour.

Saints went into this weekend having to sit back and pray, the team they were praying for most was Leicester City who travelled to Burnley who themselves sat on equal points with Saints albeit with an inferior goal difference.

Even a point for the home side would lift them above Saints and give them a psychological boost, so we were looking for the Foxes to do their bit.

Switching on to Sky Sports, shortly after 3pm though did not bring good news, Harry McGuire had already been sent off after only 3 minutes and this would make it an uphill task for his side.

But a goal for Leicester brought hope although it was swiftly cancelled out to make it all square at half time.

The second half brought news of Burnley dominating and missing an open goal so when the studio went to Turf Moor in the final minute to hear of a goal our worst fears looked like being realised.

But it wasn't the home team it was the Foxes to earn a victory and in doing so give Saints a big boost in their fight against relegation, it didn't change much in the table. but Burnley have now played a game more.

This makes it tough for Burnley as they also have Cardiff breathing down their necks, with 7 games left their next fixture is a home game against in form Wolves, followed by a trip to Bournemouth, then the crunch game Cardiff at home on 13th April, in what could be a pivotal weekend for Saints and go a long way to deciding who gets relegated.

After that Burnley finish off with Chelsea away, Man City at home, Everton away and end with Arsenal at home.

This isn't the easiest of ends to the season although Cardiff's is just as bad as in their last 8 games they have to face Chelsea & Liverpool at home and Manchester City and Manchester United away.

This may well be looked back on as a crucial weekend at the end of the season by Saints fans even though their club was not playing.
